Outrivia presents ten trivia prompts each day in your browser, with 30 seconds to type any answer that fits each category. Many answers can be correct; the game awards base points from one of five bands according to how common an answer is in the built question bank. There is no account or download required and Unlimited mode offers extra runs anytime.

During a run a crowd of 100 people stands on tiles that show the five most common answers and Other answers beneath. Your figurine moves to the tile you pick and the rarer your answer the more points you score and the more people from the table follow you. Certain questions count for double, triple or quadruple points, and people are pulled for every 25 points you earn.

How to play Outrivia

  1. Open Outrivia in your browser and press Play for today's ten prompts or choose Unlimited for extra questions.
  2. Each prompt names a category and you have thirty seconds to type any answer that fits and press Go.
  3. After you answer the game shows the five busiest answers and where your figurine landed among them.
  4. Points are awarded from one of five bands based on a preassigned commonness score for the accepted answer.
  5. Every 25 points causes one of the table's 100 people to follow you to your tile; the run ends after ten prompts for the Daily.
  6. When a run finishes use Share & challenge to create a short link or cards that let friends play the same prompts without signing up.

Tips for Outrivia

  • Say the obvious answer to yourself first, then deliberately look elsewhere for less common answers.
  • Work regionally or by subcategory to generate rarer answers, for example move country by country when naming capitals.
  • Keep a safe Crowd answer ready so you score something if time runs out on a tougher prompt.
  • Use Unlimited to practice and review the suggested rare answers shown after each run.
  • Avoid relying on length or spelling tricks; rarity in players' minds determines higher bands, not complexity.

Outrivia FAQ

Is Outrivia free?

Yes, Outrivia is free to play with no account and no paywall; Unlimited runs are also free. Start the game in your browser and play the daily ten prompts or open Unlimited whenever you like without signing up.

Can I play Outrivia on my phone?

Yes, Outrivia runs in a phone browser and the answer box stays above the on-screen keyboard. Press the on-screen Go key or the game's Go button to submit answers while playing on a phone.

How long does an Outrivia Daily take?

A full Daily has ten prompts with up to 30 seconds each, so at most about five minutes of answering plus the brief reveals after each answer. Answering earlier finishes the run sooner and you can tap the table to speed up reveals.

How is Outrivia different from other trivia games?

Outrivia accepts many correct answers and rewards the ones that the fewest people choose rather than rewarding the first correct response. The game uses preassigned commonness bands so unusual answers score far higher and thinking differently is rewarded as much as factual knowledge.

What kind of trivia questions does Outrivia ask?

Prompts come from everyday categories such as places, food, music, books, sport and the human body. Each prompt names a category like 'Name a capital city in Europe' and accepts a wide range of answers from well-known to obscure.

How does Outrivia decide which answers are rare?

Each accepted answer in the game's question bank has a preassigned commonness score that places it in one of five bands; bands determine base points. Bands are not calculated from live responses and the displayed 'Most said' is an estimate of common first thoughts.

Why wasn't my answer accepted?

Each prompt uses a prepared list of accepted answers and common variants, plurals and small typos are recognised, but some valid answers may be missing. If your answer is rejected you can try another while time remains and use the post-run 'Should this count? Tell us' button to report missed answers.

How do challenge links work?

A share or challenge link lets friends play the exact same prompts and places everyone who opens that link on the same board. The link shows your figurine on each prompt for friends to see, and finished runs for that link are kept so the group's board and today's percentile can be computed.
