Split preview artwork

Split is a simple one-glass-a-day game that challenges you to match a settled liquid line to a briefly shown target. Each day presents a different glass and pour. You hold to tip and sip, release to stop, and the visual cues change across three consecutive pours labeled Sober, Tipsy, and Drunk to increase difficulty.

Each round gives you three attempts and a single daily result equal to the rounded average of those attempts. A dashed target line appears briefly before each sip. Motion options can be reduced to remove zoom, sway, and blur while keeping identical timing. New glasses appear at local midnight and progress is stored in the browser.

How to play Split

  1. How to play Split: A dashed line briefly shows the target before each sip.
  2. Hold the glass, button, or space bar to tip and start the pour.
  3. Release to stop tipping; the liquid continues briefly so timing must anticipate that flow.
  4. Match the settled beer line beneath the foam to the target mark for each of three sips: Sober, Tipsy, Drunk.

Tips for Split

  • Watch the dashed target when it appears and pick a consistent reference point on the glass to time your release.
  • Remember the liquid keeps flowing a short moment after release, so release a bit earlier than the visual target.
  • Expect later sips to sway and flow less evenly; treat the first sip as calibration for timing.
  • On glasses with distinguishing graphics like the Guinness example, aim at the specified graphic reference such as the top of the G crossbar.

Split FAQ

What is Split?

Split is a daily timing puzzle where you attempt three pours of a single glass and try to stop each pour so the settled liquid line matches a briefly shown target line; the game gives the same glass to everyone for that date. The interface requires holding to tip and releasing to stop, and each session consists of three pours labeled Sober, Tipsy, and Drunk with increasing instability.

How many attempts do you get per day in Split?

You get three attempts per day, presented as Sober, Tipsy, and Drunk, and each attempt contributes to your final result. The three pours are averaged and that rounded average becomes your daily score, and misses are counted alongside successful matches.

When does the new glass arrive?

A new glass appears at local midnight for your browser, so each day's challenge resets at that time. Progress and results are kept in the browser, and the same-date glass can be opened via shared links, while archives are available but do not affect your stored record.

Can you play past puzzles or share a past glass?

Yes, shared links open the same date’s glass and the site provides archives, so you can view and play past glasses, but those archive plays do not count toward your stored record. The page also offers ways to export or share results such as copying text or saving a postcard for that date.

How is the score computed in Split?

Your final score is the average of your three sip results, rounded to the nearest point, and that single number is recorded as your daily result. Each of the three sips contributes equally to the average, and any interrupted held sip is treated as a miss that factors into the calculation.

Does Split work on mobile?

Yes, Split supports touch controls as well as keyboard input; you can hold the glass or on-screen button on touch devices or use the space bar on desktop. The instructions explicitly list holding the glass, button, or space bar to tip, indicating the interface is designed for both mobile and desktop play.
