Farflung is a geography puzzle that gives everyone the same five prompts each day and asks you to pin one country per prompt on a world map. Each prompt accepts many correct answers, and the rarer your chosen country among players, the more distance you earn along a communal trail that tracks progress up to a Far Reach.
Play takes about three minutes: you get 45 seconds per pin, one pin per prompt, and a new expedition appears every day at midnight local time. The game runs in any modern browser with no sign-up, uses Natural Earth map data for borders and territories, and shows which answers were common or rare after the expedition ends.

Farflung FAQ
What is Farflung Game?
Farflung Game is a free daily geography puzzle where each day brings five prompts and you drop one pin per prompt on a world map; rarer correct answers travel farther up to the day’s maximum distance. The game highlights tiers of rarity from Common to Farflung and includes one hand-picked gem worth the full 100 km for each prompt.
When does a new expedition start?
A new expedition starts every day at midnight in your local time. Everyone receives the same five prompts for that calendar date so scores and distances are directly comparable across players.
How is rarity decided?
Rarity is determined by placing each correct answer into tiers based on how many players are likely to think of it, with tiers labelled Common, Uncommon, Rare, Elusive and a single hand-picked Farflung gem. Each tier awards a fixed distance bonus, with the hand-picked gem giving the maximum 100 km for that prompt.
Does the clock stop if I leave?
No, the 45-second clock keeps running while you are away and does not pause, so you cannot stop the timer to look things up. If time runs out before you drop a pin, the game will drop a pin for you at that moment.
Do territories like Greenland count as their governing country?
Yes, territories count for the country that governs them, so Greenland is counted as Denmark and French Guiana is counted as France. The game follows Natural Earth borders and uses governance to assign territorial answers.
Do I need an account or app to play?
No, Farflung runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet or computer and does not require signing up or downloading an app. The game is free to play and offers both the daily expedition and an unlimited play mode.
